Pedersoli Sharps Serial Numbers
Posted By admin On 09.01.21Research conducted by Roy Marcot indicates that the serial number range for the approximately 2,000 Berdan Sharpshooter issued rifles is from 54,374-57,514. These rifles usually have double set triggers and the omitted lever latch. Also see the Buffalo Hunter Sharps, Cavalry Carbine Sharps, and all available configurations below. By the early 1880s, the long-range models had become the favorites of professional buffalo hunters. In 1874, after 700 Comanche warriors attacked 30 buffalo hunters in the Texas panhandle, the hunters had used their Sharps rifles to fight back.

I have a rifle which I have had for a while and I would like to know more about it. I will try to be as detailed as possible.
On reciever:
Shiloh Rifle Mfg
Big Timber Montana
Barrel:
30' Octagon - blade front sight.
Approx 1.15 full length Exc at reciever - flared to match reciever.
On top of barrel, it says OLD RELIABLE in a box and C. Sharps Arms, Inc.
On bottom of barrel under forearm, it says SHILOH RIFLE MFG. w/serial number, which matches reciever.
The wood is definately better than standard and has a plastic plate with SHARPS - OLD RELIABLE on it. (shotgun style?) Has a cheek rest on it.
It has double set trigger setup.
Serial # 70**.
Shiloh thinks it may have been made about 1985, but there was no owner card sent back in, on that particular rifle.
I suspect that it was never shot before I got it. It came from an estate.
It has had the rear sight removed, or at least it appears so. There is a tang sight on reciever. It is different than what I am seeing on my other rifles, as it has no micro adjustment, for fine movement. The eye cup just loosens and you raise or lower it.
Groups are good, but I will be putting a globe sight on the front ASAP.
